A first-generation American, Meleiza Figueroa was taught to read by her family at the tender age of one and a half. Somewhere along the line, this basic skill became a lifetime obsession with knowledge and information.

Throughout her tours of duty as student, retail worker, and information technology/corporate drone, she has been a denizen of the World Wide Web almost since its inception in the early 90's. She has maintained several blogs and activist websites, and works with various groups throughout the Los Angeles peace and justice community.

Meleiza is currently an associate producer for the Monday afternoon public-affairs show Surface with Suzi Weissman on KPFK 90.7 FM.
