Rev. Altagracia Perez Holy Faith Episcopal Church in Inglewood, CA
Reverend Perez has been a Priest at the Holy Faith Episcopal Church in Inglewood for over three years. Dynamic and articulate, Reverend Perez also possesses a moral compass that cuts through to the core issues for working people in her community. She reminds us to whom much has been given much is to be expected. Reverend Perez challenges the Walton Family and Wal-Mart corporate to uphold their privileged responsibility. And, she stresses that we are all shareholders in a moral economy.
Reverend Perez hails from an Afro-Latino family, and she was one of the first individuals from the church community to join the fight against Wal-Mart. She was a clear voice in the Coalition for a Better Inglewood, and was instrumental in bringing the religious community along in the battle against Wal-Mart.
She clearly takes great pride in the people of Inglewood, and being part of a historic and successful struggle against one of the most powerful corporations on earth. Reverend Perez was also part of the delegation from Inglewood that recently presented Wal-Mart with the kind of community contract that, if agreed to, could become a model for the many other groups across the nation that are struggling to ensure that Wal-Mart works within a community's democratic process.
